What is your secret to achieve your dream?
This photo was taken La Barceloneta, one of the most popular beaches of the Barcelona coast.
When I lived in Castelldefels where is 20 minutes away from Barcelona, I was spending most of my free time on the beach… Even in the winter.. Since there were not too many alternatives for me… 🙂 The place I grew up in Istanbul was 5 minutes away from the sea.. Sometimes, when I was a teenager, I was skipping the afternoon classes from school (dark side of me.. ;)… I was escaping to the seaside… It was the best place for me to be away from life problems… Unfortunately, it:)
Years passed… At the university, I went a little far away from the sea, actually just in the middle of a forest… Yes, the campus was in the forest… It was now a bit difficult to access the sea… However, I discovered the forest-bathing in the nature… 🙂
I moved to Barcelona city center from Castelldefels, in December 2020. This time, the places where I go to be calmer and seek inspiration become La Barceloneta (seaside), Montjuic (nature)…
Let’s continue with the story of this photo..
It was Saturday in March when I came to relax a bit and watch and also feel the energy of the waves at La Barceloneta. First, the weather was okay and the beach was very crowded due to the other Covid restrictions in public places… However, suddenly it got dark and the clouds formed a slightly scary atmosphere. Then the immediate heavy rain started.
There was a correlation between the increasing rain and the number of people who were escaping. I found one of the umbrellas in the garden of a restaurant which remained from the summer, I suppose. I stood there and hoping the rain would go away. There were some people with me under the other giant umbrellas. I was hearing they were talking about how they would get to their homes before the heavier rain.. However, I was dreaming of my return to the beach when the rain will have been over. They were starting to run on the streets to find the next spot until they arrive at their home. But, I was still waiting.. 🙂
Finally, the rain stopped after 15-20 minutes. Clouds suddenly scattered each one aside, now, I was with the few people who were hesitant to return home or to stay on the beach.
Without hesitating, I just started to walk through to the seaside.. Like a longing-awaiting lover.. Happiness, excitement but with patience.. 🙂
I finally arrived but I was not alone. The seagulls were looking for food left by people who escaped from the rain… 😂
As the sky got clearer, sailboats became visible. I couldn’t catch them with the rainbow, but in the following minutes, I was able to catch two sailboats in sunset time…
Life sometimes let you think that everything is going well, but suddenly it can create critical conditions. Then, it offers you choices; leave or continue.
Sometimes it is necessary to go, sometimes to stay. Sometimes one is more logical, sometimes one is more superior in your heart… It didn’t make much sense to stay on the beach that was wet after the rain at that moment, but that was what was going on in my heart.
For me, life always offered a light after darkness.. Sometimes, I just continued with self-courage without worrying or calculating risk… Although as a biomedical engineer, I shouldn’t have done… 😉
