Hi, I’m Umut.
Welcome to my online home. I research, think and create change with timeless ideas and science-backed strategies to feel happy and perform at your very best…
What Do I Do?
✍️ I am a biomedical engineer with a passion for writing about entrepreneurship, lifestyle, and art to enhance awareness….
🌍 Istanbul native, I now live in Barcelona.
💼 Currently, I am an employee of a research institute to lead business and application development of a start-up project about wearable technology.
👨🏼⚕️ Studied Biomedical Engineering and did my Master’s in the same department. Neuroscience, wearable devices, and a healthy lifestyle are always hot topics for me. If you want to chat about them, please scroll down to contact…
Other Stuff
🚀 At university, I found a startup called Yeditepe Destek that helps bachelor’s & master’s students to obtain the best academic background. In time, I created a team and we gave consultancy on graduation projects, presentations and thesis. Our services still help many university students every year. However, these days, due to the main works, I am only able to share advice and my experiences with the other team members, not more..
💰 Above all, there are some side businesses that I have done to learn more and improve myself. You can find them here.
📷 Photography is my hobby, life is my passion. I enjoy taking photos and writing their meanings for me in the photography section. I sometimes post photos on Instagram, along with various self-photos, to subtly show-off the fact that I’m a traveler… 😉 Please follow me if that sounds remotely appealing.
Last Thing: Why “Umut”?
Meaning
“Hope” in English. “Esperanza” in Spanish…
In time, I learned that there are just so many different ways to pronounce it. My fav is still “Hummus”…
Story
My parents hadn’t found any name for me until I was born. When it became a must in the hospital, they started to brainstorm altogether with the visitors, family members… There were some advices but my mother didn’t like any of them.
Finally, my aunt, Halide found it… “Umut”
Halide is mentally disabled. She was born healthy and when she was an infant, she got a high temperature and then had meningitis. Due to the wrong treatment methods, her life changed. She couldn’t do any physical actions until 7 years old and then, gradually started to walk and talk… Today, she is over 40, and passionate about life.
“Umut is the last thing ever lost…”
